چکیده
Abstract Efficient frequency up-conversion of coherent light at the nanoscale is highly demanded for a variety modern photonic applications, but it remains challenging in nanophotonics. Surface second-order nonlinearity noble metals can be significantly boosted up by plasmon-induced field enhancement, however related far-field second-harmonic generation (SHG) may also quenched symmetric plasmonic nanostructures despite huge near-field amplification. Here, we demonstrate that SHG from single gold nanosphere enhanced when tightly coupled to metal film, even absence plasmon resonance SH frequency. The light-induced electromagnetic asymmetry nanogap junction efficiently suppresses cancelling locally generated fields and emission further amplified through preferential coupling bright, bonding dipolar mode nanocavity. conversion efficiency $$3.56\times 10^{-7}$$ 3.56 × 1 0 ? 7 W ?1 demonstrated 100 nm diameter, two orders magnitude higher than complex double-resonant nanostructures. Such efficient nanocavity constitutes an ultrasensitive nonlinear nanoprobe map distribution longitudinal vectorial nanophotonic systems.

Light-induced second-harmonic generation in an octupolar dye.
Quasi-permanent light-induced second-order susceptibility x s2d of octupolar molecules is demonstrated. The octupolar molecule Ethyl Violet was oriented in a solgel matrix by a purely optical poling technique. The method consists of a seeding process based on a nonclassical holographic process with coherent two-frequency mixing. The growth of the induced x s2d is monitored in real time by frequ...
متن کاملSymmetry-selective third-harmonic generation from plasmonic metacrystals.
Nonlinear processes are often governed by selection rules imposed by the symmetries of the molecular configurations. The most well-known examples include the role of centrosymmetry breaking for the generation of even harmonics, and the selection rule related to the rotational symmetry in harmonic generation for fundamental beams with circular polarizations. While the role of centrosymmetry brea...

Efficient frequency conversion techniques are crucial to the development of plasmonic metasurfaces for information processing and signal modulation. In principle, nanoscale electric-field confinement in nonlinear materials enables higher harmonic conversion efficiencies per unit volume than those attainable in bulk materials. Here we demonstrate efficient second-harmonic generation (SHG) in a s...
متن کاملSecond-harmonic generation from hyperbolic plasmonic nanorod metamaterial slab
Hyperbolic plasmonic metamaterials provide numerous opportunities for designing unusual linear and nonlinear optical properties. We show that the modal overlap of fundamental and second-harmonic light in an anisotropic plasmonic metamaterial slab results in the broadband enhancement of radiated second-harmonic intensity by up to 2 orders of magnitudes for TMand TE-polarized fundamental light co...

We report excellent quantitative agreement between theoretical predictions and experimental observation of squeezing from a singly resonant second-harmonic-generating crystal. Limitations in the noise suppression imposed by the pump laser are explicitly modeled and confirmed by our measurements.
